Understand the development trend of IT outsourcing services
IT outsourcing service has a history of decades, but in recent years this business has spread like an airborne virus within the enterprise IT department.
Take a survey conducted by PC Week Executive and Information Management Association several years ago as an example to show the overall trend of IT outsourcing development. The survey shows that few IT managers in the management field will fight against IT outsourcing. At the same time, the survey shows that about three quarters of companies have outsourced one or more IT projects - a figure that will obviously continue to rise. Only about 8% of IT managers said they would neither outsource nor study this possibility.
An important reason for IT outsourcing services is to enrich the IT team by introducing high-tech developers. In terms of times, PC and network maintenance are more outsourced than host and legacy systems.
The senior IT manager responsible for outsourcing, as well as outsourcing suppliers, are making every effort to seek new cooperation methods to improve the results. As Mike Bauer, former technical planning director of EDS, said, "People's interest in outsourcing has shifted from cost containment and cost reduction to business growth and market share increase."
After fully digging out their core competence, enterprises should first consider the strategic factors when considering whether to make outsourcing choices. Can entrusting non core business to external providers enhance the enterprise's ability to achieve strategic goals? Can it help the management and business of the enterprise focus their attention? Can it help enterprises achieve long-term strategic planning? Only in this way can we make correct and decisive outsourcing decisions and supplier selection.
