The horizontal wiring implemented by the integrated wiring adopts the star topology structure, and the connection port of each equipment distribution area shall be connected to the cross connection distribution module of the horizontal distribution area or the main distribution area through the horizontal cable. Horizontal wiring includes horizontal cables, cross distribution modules, equipment cables, jumpers, and regional sockets or assembly points in the regional distribution area.

The horizontal wiring system between the equipment connection port in the equipment distribution area and the horizontal cross connection distribution module in the horizontal distribution area cannot contain more than one assembly point in the area distribution area, and the channel can only have four connection devices (including the information point, assembly point and two modules of horizontal cross connection in the equipment distribution area)

In order to meet the needs of today's telecommunications business, the planning and design of the horizontal cabling system should be as convenient as possible for maintenance and avoid future equipment reinstallation. It should also adapt to future changes in equipment and services.

Regardless of the transmission medium used, the transmission distance of the horizontal cabling system link cannot exceed 90m, and the channel distance cannot exceed 100m. If there is no horizontal distribution area in the data center, when the active equipment in the equipment distribution area is directly connected to the equipment in the main distribution area by optical cable, the transmission distance of multimode optical fiber cabling channel including the equipment optical cable in the main distribution area, optical fiber jumper and equipment optical cable in the equipment distribution area should not exceed 300 m (the transmission distance can be extended to 550 m by using OM4 multimode optical cable).

When four pairs of twisted pair cables are used, the transmission distance of wiring links (excluding equipment cables in the main distribution area, jumper and equipment cables in the equipment distribution area) shall not exceed 90m, and the transmission distance of channels (including equipment cables in the main distribution area, jumper and equipment cables in the equipment distribution area) shall not exceed 100m.

If too long jumpers and equipment cables are used in the wiring area, the distance of horizontal cables should be appropriately reduced. The total length of horizontal cable, equipment cable and jumper shall meet relevant regulations and transmission performance requirements. In fact, in the data center, with the application of 40G and 100G networks, the length of twisted cable has been specified not to exceed 30m.

Considering the influence of compensating insertion loss on transmission index, when regional distribution area adopts regional socket scheme, the channel of horizontal distribution system is composed. The length of equipment cable in the equipment distribution area is calculated by the following formula.

       C = (102 - H)/(1+D)

Z=C - T ≤ 22m, 22m is for UTP (unshielded cable) or F/UTP (shielded cable) using 24 AWG (wire gauge); If 26 AWG F/UTP (shielded cable) is used, Z ≤ 17m.

Including:

C is the total length (T+Z) of equipment cable in equipment distribution area and equipment cable and jumper in horizontal distribution area.

H is the length of horizontal cable (H+C ≤ 100 m).

D is the degradation factor of jumper type, 0.2 for 24 AWG UTP or 24 AWG F/UTP cable, and 0.5 for 26 AWG F/UTP cable.

Z is the distance between the information socket in the area distribution area and the cable connecting the equipment in the equipment distribution area.

T is the total length of jumper and equipment cable in horizontal cross connect distribution area.

When the regional distribution area is set, the length of the horizontal cable is 90m, and the channel is 100m.

Point to point wiring connection is allowed between equipment adjacent to or in the same column of cabinets in the equipment wiring area, and the length of the connecting cable should not be more than 15m.
